Our guides are always ready to help. They’ll do everything possible
to make your vacation unforgettable so that your trips are full
of discovery and friendship.
They each enjoy a high level of experience in the activities they
guide, having worked or participated in similar activities in other
parts of the world. This assures a very high standard of safety
and professionalism.
Each year, our guides renew their credentials with National Parks,
the Argentinean Association of Mountain Guides, and the Argentinean
Coast Guard. They participate in various internationally-recognized
First Aid courses, including Swiftwater Rescue, Wilderness First
Responder and others.

Hi! I am Alejandro Grillo, an adventure guide in Nahuel Huapi National
Park. For more than 12 years I have
worked in the organization and development of adventure events including
the Raid Gauloises, Eco-Challenge, Marlboro Adventure Team and others.
Together with Ismael, we have developed Huala,
a unique concept in outdoor activities in Patagonia. With a focus
on learning, a high quality of service, safety and professionalism,
we offer one-of-a-kind activities that connect you and/or your
group with nature.
|
Welcome to our website, part of the Huala world. For the
past 14 years, I have been exploring this wonderful world, including
the incredible Patagonia, and have discovered places that we have
turned into truly welcoming destina-
tions, the key to our programs.
My personal goal is that one day we can together share in the amazing
and unforgettable experiences that I live each day in this magical
and unexplored territory, Patagonia.

Hi, I am Gerardo. My job is to give the best and most complete information
available about the activities you can experience in Nahuel Huapi
National Park.
I am naturally keen about these activities and have personally explored
the majority of them, including visits
to the mountain huts, mountain bike trails and of course
the various sections of the Manso River.
You’ll find me in our office and I’d be happy to tell you all you
need to know about our excursions, especially since I am usually
the first person to experience the newest ones, including Canyoning
at the La Virgen Creek, one of my favorites. |
El Mendo has been a kayaker and professional rafting
guide since 1995. He knows the local rivers of Patagonia
very well, as well as the rivers of the Mendoza area.
He has worked in a variety of sporting events in the area, including
the Eco-Challenge, Discovery Kids, Marlboro Adventure Team Selection
Camp, Peugeot Eco Adventure and others.
El Mendo has worked with us as a rafting guide and safety kayaker
since 2000. He has also developed his own brand, Reptil, where
he designs and produces sporting equipment. |

Amilkar is one of the most experienced guides on our staff. He has
been able to display his talents not only in rafting
but also in kayak, hydro-speed and duckies.
Our clients find much charm in his tranquil and friendly personality.
And his adventurous spirit has taken him to different corners
of the world in search of new rivers, including the Catalan Pyranees
(Spain), California (USA) and the south of Chile. |
Hector is one of the most experienced members of our
staff. His lifestyle keeps him always healthy and fit. Outside the
summer whitewater season, Hector works as a snowboard instructor
and Physical Education teacher.
Hector truly enjoys being on the river and offering
people the chance to try something new. He loves sharing the beauty
of Patagonia’s nature.
His favorite trips are long, with evenings spent around a crackling
fire and time for plenty of friendly conversation.
Hector has spent many, many hours on the water, and he has run rivers
up and down the Andes. |

Martin has been our videographer for many years. He has recorded
images on many of our river trips. His ‘wise eye’ captures wonderful
glimpses of discovery and his vision is
a perfect mixture of calm and fury.
Martin was the first person to record video live from the summit
of Aconcagua, the tallest peak in the Americas. He has filmed
many bicycle tours, long treks across the Andes and an infinite
number of Patagonian river descents.
Martin has filmed, produced and edited two excellent documentaries
on Patagonia – Thangi and Refugio Patagonia. |
Virginia está especializada en turismo aventura y está a cargo dentro de la empresa, del área hoteles y grupos especiales.
Próximamente Guía del Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi.

Federico is one of the most experienced rafting guides in Patagonia.
His many years guiding the rivers of Costa Rica has given Federico
a different vision on how to run a river, and you’ll notice the
difference when you raft with him.
On his own, he has developed a Canopy Tour in Bariloche, as well
as designed and produced an outdoor brand.
|
Lucas is one of our newer elements, and we are keeping
him busy developing multi-sport activities in the mountain, making
sure we are always ready to head into the hills with our clients.
He makes a great host no matter the activity. Lucas has worked
with us over the past two years and doesn’t ever hesitate to get
involved in a chance to learn
and gather experience in his profession. It’s likely you’ll
meet him on a Huala tour. |

“The Bird”, as we call him, is perhaps one of the most original
characters in Patagonia. His knowledge seems endless – not only
in geography, ecology and anthropolo-
gy, but particularly in his great passion – birds.
Roberto may be the most meticulous bird-watcher in the area from
the Aluminé to Tierra del Fuego, a giant region
he knows intimately due to his many guided tours on Highway 40.
A trip with him has no fixed schedule nor a concrete arrival time.
And it’s very, very likely you’ll find some birds en route!
|
Santi is a regular on our team. The happy attitude he ca-
rries with him seems to spread on to all those who join him for
an adventure. In the short time he has been leading outdoor activities,
he’s shown a talent, knowledge and desi-
re to make his mark on our team and on Patagonia.
It’s important to remember that he arrived in Bariloche
from Buenos Aires on a bicycle at 20 years old, a trip that had
its shares of frustrations, including having his bike robbed in
La Pampa.
He’s headed out for more experience and was warmly welcomed in Spain,
where he worked on the rivers of the Catalan Pyranees. |

Nico is the face of the next generation of mountain athle-
tes. His healthy mind makes him a great host.
The athletic ease Nico shows in the mountains has taken
him to the summit of the most important peaks in the
area, including Tronador and Lanin.
These days, he’s working with Huala to develop new activities in
corporate teambuilding, client services and expeditions.
|
Hector is another of our ‘new elements’. He’s finishing his studies
in Physical Education and is one of our most qualifi-
ed bike experts.
On his bike, Hector has competed at an international level
at events including the Panamerican Games in Puerto Rico
in 2000, where he represented Argentina.
A Patagonian, but from the beach since Hector is originally from
Comodoro Rivadavia. Here in Bariloche, he’s found a home to develop
his professional goals. Even though he’s a bike-man at heart, you’ll
likely find Hector participating in
our other activities as well since he has a deep desire to learn
all the outdoor activities possible. |

Gustavo’s amazing snowboard photos have been published around the
world in various international events and publications.
His ability to capture the flight of a boarder or the flip of
a raft in a great rapid has made him an expert in demonstrating
the action and thrill of adventure.
He arrived from Buenos Aires, and the nature of Patagonia has
seized him. Now, he lives with his family here in Bariloche where
he is developing the art of capturing
unique moments on film.
